Living In Black

Bringing You 360 Degrees of the Black Experience

Perhaps a more appropriate orientation of this question is whether one is willing to LIVE for what we believe?

The answer is self evident. Most, if not all of us do live what we believe. Unfortunately here in the Diaspora too much of what we believe in is ultimately dis-empowering.

But there are a rising number of us who are living what we believe and it is wonderful to witness the impact of this trend. And yes, ultimately because we ARE living what we believe, our death will also be a reflection of that pathway.

Hence I will live and die on the same path that I am on today; that of global African uplift and development.

I believe in technical competence in a number of areas.
I believe in Truth, Justice, Balance, Harmony, Reciprocity, Order and Propriety
I believe in natural health and vitality
I believe in building our/my own economic self sufficiency
I believe in protecting those things which are necessary to my/our survival
I believe in developing fulfilling relations with my fellow hue-man/woman Beings
I believe in giving our best to our children so that they can rise even higher than us
I believe in my own capabilities as Master of my fate and captain of my soul journey.

If we are living 2day from what we learned Yesterday ... then our past beliefs are "Dead" and therefore we are walking the pathway of Wisdom and Knowledge ..

You have a very complex answer here ...

But one thing stands out the most: If we raise our children with true knowledge, then we must raise ourselves to their level of Wisdom and Understanding ...

Moreover, Uplift cannotes a comparison and development inspires ingenuity and our ingenuity cannot be compared ...

However, your heart is in the Right Direction ! ! !

Brother Keidi Awadu, totally agree with your response.
Reposting my answer here:

I AM WILLING TO LIVE FOR WHAT I BELIEVE as LIFE, as a divine gift, is what it is needed to fight this fight and win the battle. These times are not for martyrs, these are time for warriors of Light and truth.
also, we are not dealing with 'death'; the divine spirit is eternal, so even if the temple/body fails or is destroyed, the spirit of Truth never dies...

The responses from these gentleman are beautiful and truly reconceptualize common understandings of resistance and revolution. Your responses just gave me such peace and validation.

Peace and Blessings,

I've always been willing to die for what I believed, check out my post "Everything I Believed Was A Lie".

The flip side of what you are asking in my opinion is, Are you willing to die for what you believe is truth, righteous, good and correct. (But how does one know that unless they have researched or are they just believing what they have been given/handed to them?)

Americans are dying in Iraq becaused they believed Bush's lies, others because they believe in America, so the question becomes, is what you believe truth or lies.

I've been willing to die for what I believed and it's caused me much grief, many jobs, a distance from family, etc., because not only do I believe what I believed and have researched, I express it to others, example, the facts about Christianity, surely you can see where that might take a person.

Bobby Hemmitt said something I thought was extremely interesting, "It's not about race, Black vs White anymore, it's about the conscious vs the unconscious.

transition?.....for your beliefs?....

I would call it "living"(not dying) for what you believe in.....

I'd be happy to to that....

I'm willing to live, die and kill for what I know. I have no beliefs. Why am I willing to live, die and kill for what I know? Well, I had a thought about a week ago when I was in one of my Nana Barbara Sizemore "Black people still don't get it" moments. I wondered what if Black people never get it? What if we go the way of the Dodo? Why would I be doing what I do if ultimately we perish never learning the lesson and never changing our situation?

I said to myself what WOULD you do? If you knew it was all for naught, would you just try to get your money and live out your days in the Cayman Islands or somewhere like it laying on the beach enjoying the rest of your life away from the madness? Would you join in the madness and just say to hell with it all? I would like that the things I do and want to do would affect my people for the good even if it's not that many. But what if it didn't?

I decided that I can only be me. It would be good that I actually had an affect but even if I don't, I can't stop being who I am and continue to live. I don't have it in me to do anything else. I don't have it in me to lay on that beach while my people suffer no matter how much they cooperate with those who bring them misery. I don't have it in me to join in the cooning and madness. If I wasn't who I was then my experiences thus far, which are not much different than a lot of other people, would have already rendered me a statistic. I went through and go through the pain of our circumstances and it only brought out who I am by spiritual design in a more pronounced fashion.

I'm a natural killer cell. Even if you've smoked yourself into certain death by way of cancer, I will do what a natural killer cell does.

I will live, die and kill for what I know even if it is all for nothing because it is my divine purpose and doing the work is fulfilling in and of itself.

keidi's response is beautiful!!

i also agree with Awoɔ: "I have no beliefs."

only knowledge, wisdom, understanding and experience that guide and strengthen my purpose in THIS life! belief stems from ignorance and leads to chaos, confusion and eventual destruction.

there is no death. death is the beginning of life.

the kemetic word for god is ntr (neter). a kemetic priest defined ntr as "that which is placed in the coffin".

death is simply a new beginning, and with new beginnings come new purpose (new challenges). so therefore, as keidi noted, the focus should be on life and fulfilling ones personal prophecy/purpose, then on death.

peace,

If you look at this question for what it really reveals, people die everyday as it pertains to what they believe, be it something redeeming or not. It’s actually about, what belief do you want to live for and die for, or live with and possibly die with, because you’re going to die one day believe in something.

What's even more perplexing and too often true, is that people are living and dying based on what others believe.

If I know my actions will result in my premature death by someone opposed to those actions and those actions are deemed right by my family, community, Maat etc, yeah.
