Profile

About Me:
First and foremost, I am an Afrikan woman. Strong, resilient and a protector of the spirit of all who enter my realm. I am that Afrikan woman who will never let you forget that we are the people to whom the Earth's soil shares a history, and that it is because of that shared history, we must love and respect it as much as we love and respect ourselves and never let anyone destroy it, for in doing so, they destroy us.

Because of my desire to do what is beneficial to the growth and strengthening of our people, I became a mother. Who better than Afrikan mothers and fathers to teach, lead and develop an Afrikan child into someone whose legacy is befitting the title of gods and goddesses? Who better to teach our children the value of the sun that lights our days and the moons that cast shadows on our nights?

Through my journey to motherhood, I became a wife, not simply because I am deserving of a mate—which I am—but because I am more inspired with my Afrikan king by my side, shielding me and our children from the dangers that life may present and ensuring we are treated with the respect and dignity befitting a queen and her children. I chose to be a wife, because it offers me the chance to show my Afrikan king how a queen stands by his side, loving him until the end and treasuring his spirit even after then.

I became a researcher, because it does me no good to know of things, yet not have the framework to separate the fact from the fiction. And in so researching, I do one of the things I was birthed to do—I write. I apply to paper and keyboard, words that rise from deep within my spirit. I write so that the light I have been blessed to encounter can be shared with the rest of my Afrikan family, strengthening and preparing them for the battle yet to come.

And, lastly, I am life, ebbing, flowing, some days like the waters of the river and, on others, raging as the waves of the ocean, but always, at some point in time, settling back and just being as I strive to understand the complexity of the four-letter word called life that will continue to propel this Afrikan woman until she has come full circle.

Life Matters

Nothing like spending time with nature to realize what really matters. And what matters is the fact that we are only promised two things in life: the first breath and the last. It's what we do between the two that decides whether our living was in vain or brought advancement to our generations to come. I challenge every African to live with the steel resolve that we will bring advancement to our people--beginning with our own families--and that should we not advance them as much as we would have liked that we did not destroy them in the process.

The Gathering Spot

After years of limited thinking sites where Africans congregated to paint surreal pictures of their actual existence, it's refreshing to have a spot where likeminded, openminded, thinking folks can gather together. While I'm not sure how often I will use this blog, it'll certainly be nice to have a place to come and share where other folks will overstand what I'm saying and be able to communicate ideas right back to me. So, with that said, I guess I'll grab a cup of peppermint tea, a comfortable… Continue

Greetings Sister Yolanda,

Asante for your encouraging words on the joys and pains of attempting my first garden. It's nice to hear from someone who is sharing the miracles of this process with me. I've had the pleasure of reading some of your posts on different forums on this site. You have a beautiful spirit that exudes the divine intelligence that we are all part of. Asante sana for your participation and for sharing.

As Salaam Alaikum Queen Yolanda!

Thanks for your anti-homosexual perspectives on some of the threads. In the name of being "African," looks like the Black nation is being ruined by white devil filth and degeneracy by uncivilized Negroes who possess a white devil mind.

Keep up the good work Queen. May God (Allah) continue to bless you and your family with Divine guidance and unlimited success.

As Salaam Alaikum.
