Lesbian Couple Wins Fertility Battle - So much for absent fathers!
18-Aug-2008 California's highest court has ruled that doctors in the US state cannot discriminate against gay patients on the basis of religious belief. The decision was made after two Christian doctors refused to artificially inseminate a lesbian undergoing fertility treatment. Appreciating your comments, and I believe I understand them correctly, I wish to try and illuminate.
My last wish is to build yet another organization that duplicates what is already in existence. Certain characteristics will distinguish this one.
1. The approach here will be to deal with issues from a multi-disciplenary and comprehensive manner.
2. The Congress will become our national face and when media sources look for black experts on any topic, we will have them. We are organizing from the local, state, regional and national levels. Our organizaing is also consistent with the guidelines consistent with the African Union guidelines, that will allow us to seat delegates at the AU. We will not have to depend on Jesse and Al Sharpton to be our only spokespersons.
3. The Congress program is to actually build community on all levels. Churches are not self consciously connecting communities. Their purpose is just to spread Christianity, not build communities. If this exists, tell me where?
4. the Congress' program will be Nationalist led and directed. Integrationists and assimilationists have worked with the dominate society to dissemble our community power over the last 50 years. Our goal is to re-consolidate that power and use it to leaverage for our collectives selves.
5. The Congress will build a movement much like the sixties, and use artists and cultural workers to spread it.
6. We will also build structures for self governance and administration. For example we already have people working on a national disaster response for black communities to avoid another Katrina.
7. The Association for the Study of Classical African Assoc. (ASCAC) is mostly responsible ofr corrective history. I am a founding member of that org. who will also be working with us.
